Noggin

Despite its amusing name, Noggin—a growth factor—is a key ingredient in hair restoration

Noggin, as we all know is a euphemism for the head. It is one of those quaint English words that has become part of the normal vernacular, that would have no meaning outside the UK and would make people stop and stare if they had not heard of it before. ‘I just banged my noggin’, or ‘my daughter hurt her noggin at school’, seems normal to us Brits, yet completely alien to other cultures.

Yet Noggin is also the name of a growth factor that is one the main ingredients for a new exciting range of hair restoration products in the new SkinGenuity Hair Restoration range.

Noggin is a complex protein that was discovered in the 90s and was named due to the fact that it produced embryos with large heads. It is ironic that one of the main uses of Noggin is to stimulate the stem cells that remain dormant when hair is lost. Noggin is a well-researched protein that has many uses but in combination with other focussed and targeted growth factors, it has proven to be effective at improving the coverage and thickness of hair on patients who are suffering from hair loss

Hair Restoration Range

The SkinGenuity Hair Restoration range uses growth factors as part of the treatment regimen. The SkinGenuity growth factors all have their part to play in ensuring the patient has the best chance of improving their hair density and coverage.

• SkinGenuity Hair Restoration uses growth factors that are nano-encapsulated, so that they penetrate the hair follicles.

• Noggin is joined in the SkinGenuity Hair Restoration range by nine other growth factors that have been proven individually to help, inducing the anagen phase in resting hair follicles, stimulating the cells that cause normal hair follicle growth and stimulating overall hair growth.

• The SkinGenuity Hair Restoration treatment is a protocol that uses in-clinic treatment followed by home-use.

• There is no requirement to take blood from the patient to apply the growth factors within clinic treatments such as micro needling.

SkinGenuity Hair Restoration is most effective when used as part of a treatment protocol with the patient personal commitment.

In-clinic treatment

If you have your own micro-needling system in-house then the in-clinic treatment would be micro-needling in combination with the SkinGenuity Hair Restoration Serum. This is applied to the scalp before and after needling.

If you do not use or do not have a micro-needling system, then you can use the EMPRESS Micro-Fusions Applicator (1.0mm) needling system in combination with the EMPRESS Restorative Solution.

Homecare Kit

Once the patient has had in-clinic treatment they can then purchase the SkinGenuity Homecare Kit, which is a two-step process that will ensure that patient has the best chance of improving their hair loss.

Firstly, the patient can carry on with the needling on their scalp, by using the EMPRESS Micro-Fusions Applicator (0.2mm) needles in combination with the Noggin and his friends in the SkinGenuity Hair Restorative Solution. This should be done every other day.

The SkinGenuity Homecare Kit also contains an innovative brush which delivers a clinically proven combination of botanical and essential oils that will enhance the effect of the needling.

The key to the success of this treatment protocol is patient compliance and we have ensured that it has leading-edge packaging and video presentation. The SkinGenuity Hair Restoration Homecare Kit is presented in a video box that gives clear instructions on how to use the system and can be personalised to the individual clinic.

Combination treatment

It is clear that some scientists have a sense of humour when naming the key growth factor Noggin. Hopefully, the use of Noggin as part of a combination of growth factors and the homecare treatment will ensure that the patients who suffer from hair loss will now have something that can be used which is an alternative to treatments such as PRP and an adjunct to the current therapies available.
